Sacramento Guitar Society (SGS)

Our Mission
To promote, share, and celebrate the art of the guitar and its music by providing education and performance opportunities to people of diverse cultures, ages, abilities, and economic means. The Society operates to raise awareness and celebrate the richness and diversity of the guitar and its music through monthly meetings, concerts and workshops, special presentations, community outreach and community service.

About the SGS
The Sacramento Guitar Society (SGS) is a non-profit educational and service organization that has existed in one form or another since at least 1961. We have one of the more active and successful guitar societies in the country, with “unbelievably good” international touring artists appearing in an ideal listening environment – the Harris Center for the Arts at Folsom Lake College and now at the Sofia Tsakopoulos Center for the Arts in Sacramento.

For anyone interested in the guitar, whether as a player or as someone who just enjoys music, the Sacramento Guitar Society is a place to share your interest in a friendly and welcoming environment .

THE BIG DAY OF GIVING IS ARRIVING SOON BDOG is MAY 7, 2026

The Sacramento Guitar Society is dedicated to preserving and advancing the art of the guitar through education, performance, and community engagement. Our programs bring together musicians of all ages and skill levels, creating opportunities to learn, collaborate, and share the joy of music. From our three vibrant guitar orchestras to previous initiatives like Strum for Fun, we foster an inclusive environment where beginners and seasoned players alike can grow and connect through a shared passion.

We are especially proud to support meaningful outreach efforts such as previous support for Guitars for Vets, a program temporarily on hold by the Veterans administration, which provides instruments and instruction to veterans as a pathway to healing and personal expression. In addition, our concert series brings high-quality guitar performances to the Sacramento community throughout the year, enriching the region’s cultural landscape and inspiring audiences with the versatility of the instrument.

Your support makes this all possible. Donations help us expand our programs, provide instruments and instruction to those in need, and continue offering exceptional musical experiences to the community. We invite you to partner with us in sustaining and growing the Sacramento Guitar Society—ensuring that the music of the guitar continues to inspire, educate, and unite for years to come.

Concert Sunday May 17th @ 3pm $20
